Set up the integration with the WhatsApp Business API (Meta Cloud API) so that Tera can assist patients on WhatsApp.
Connecting WhatsApp
In order for Tera to assist patients via WhatsApp, it is necessary to set up the integration with the WhatsApp Business API (Meta Cloud API).
Prerequisites
- Active Pro plan on ProTerapia
- An account on Meta Business Suite
- A dedicated phone number for the clinic’s WhatsApp Business
Step by Step
1. Create an account on Meta Business Suite
If you don’t have one yet, create an account at business.facebook.com. This is Meta’s platform for managing businesses on WhatsApp, Facebook, and Instagram.
2. Set up WhatsApp Business
- In Meta Business Suite, go to Settings > WhatsApp
- Create a WhatsApp Business app (if it doesn’t exist yet)
- Add and verify the clinic’s phone number
- Verification can be done via SMS or phone call
3. Obtain API credentials
After verification, you will need:
- Phone Number ID — identifier for the number in Meta
- WhatsApp Business Account ID — identifier for the account
- Access Token — permanent access token for the API
This information is available in the Meta developer dashboard under App Settings > WhatsApp > API Setup.
4. Configure in ProTerapia
- Go to Settings in ProTerapia
- Navigate to Integrations > WhatsApp
- Enter the obtained credentials:
- Phone Number ID
- WhatsApp Business Account ID
- Access Token
- Click on Connect
- The system will verify the connection and confirm the status
5. Set up the Webhook
ProTerapia needs to receive messages from patients. The webhook is automatically configured during the previous step, but if you need to set it up manually:
- Webhook URL — will be displayed on the ProTerapia configuration screen
- Verification Token — also displayed on the same screen
- In Meta, go to App Settings > WhatsApp > Configuration and configure the webhook with this information
Testing the connection
After configuration:
- Send a test message to the clinic’s number using your personal phone
- Tera should respond automatically
- Test questions like “What are your hours?” or “I’d like to book a consultation”
Troubleshooting
| Problem | Solution |

| Tera does not respond | Check if the webhook is configured correctly in Meta |
| Authentication error | Check if the Access Token is correct and has not expired |
| Number not verified | Complete the verification of the number in Meta Business Suite |
| Messages not arriving | Check if the webhook subscription includes the “messages” event |
WhatsApp Costs
Meta charges for conversations on the WhatsApp Business API. The first 1,000 conversations initiated by customers are free per month. After that, consult the Meta pricing table.
ProTerapia does not charge additional fees for the WhatsApp integration — the cost is only that of Meta.
